Coins minted 1923-1950 will have a higher value than coins minted 1951-1960. 3d (tickey) only the 1931 3d has high value. 6d – 1 shilling – 2 shilling – 2 ½ shilling – 5 shilling NB: (All the above coins minted from 1965 onward have no silver value, they are made from nickel.) R1 coins dated 1965-1976. From 1970-1976 – R1- coins only issued in collectors sets and are worth bullion value. An easy way to check if your R1 coins are silver is by using a magnet, a fridge magnet will do.

If the R1 coins stick to the magnet it is not silver and only worth face value. I will also buy the silver commemorative series.
